The Master’s course of the Graduate Program in Economics at the Federal University of Santa Catarina seeks to provide a solid theoretical and instrumental formation.

The Masters runs on a semester basis, with each semester having 15 weeks of classes. According to UFSC norms, the minimum duration of the master’s degree is 12 months and the maximum duration is 24 months.

Master’s students in the Program must take a minimum of 30 credits in courses, in addition to the final thesis. As summarized in the Table below, the required four-credit courses are concentrated in the first semester. In the second semester, the Master’s student is expected to take a minimum of two elective courses of four credits, which are linked to the program’s lines of research, in addition to the discipline of Thesis Seminars, of two credits. In the third semester, the student must take an elective course. The final thesis corresponds to six credits.
